"Sonnenschein" Tiny House
The Sonnenschein Tiny House (which means sunshine in German) is something quite different from anything we have done thus far and a new favourite of the Build Tiny Team. At 7.2m long it feels just as spacious as some of our 8m models. All areas of the house are very functional. The bathroom has plenty of room to move around in and doubles as a laundry. There's a huge amount of storage throughout the house, with a mixture of cupboards, draws, and shelves. The client wanted the house to have a natural feel and chose natural paints and oils and a floor laid with cork tiles. The house is now in the Motueka area and will be kept nice a toasty with a compact Spiroloc fireplace. Insect screens have been added to all opening windows (even the skylight!) to keep out all the pesky flies and mosquitos. The master loft is longer than most to give ample space at the foot of the bed to use the storage unit and get around the bed. A much smaller second loft is dedicated to storage and accessed by our signature ladder with alternating treads. There are two cleats for the ladder, so either side of the loft can be accessed easily. When the ladder isn't in use it attaches flat against the wall out of the way. A special custom storage couch/fold-out bed was commissioned by Variant Spaces. It's on caster wheels and is beautifully made and simple to use. Not only is it a second sleeping area but it has two large storage drawers underneath to store larger items. A beautiful home for a lovely lady!
