This tiny house may look a little familiar, it’s based of the popular ‘Dark Horse’ design, but with a couple of key customisations… Firstly is a mirrored image, everything has been flipped around to suit the client’s site and access restrictions. There is also a different type of shelving, an additional tall window in the bedroom, and this client swapped out the TV for a stunning Roaring Meg wood-burning fireplace to keep her warm down south in Invercargill where she’s located. Here are the clients own words on why she named her tiny house Piwakawaka…. “Because as I went for walks and daydreamed my house, and knew it was a reality and I would live in it, when I was lost in imagining it, I would look up and there would always be a fantail (Piwakawaka). Flitting over a perfect still pond, swooping and diving, a wingtip touching the water. Or a flock of 15 above my head. Or three sitting on a branch quietly watching. They were always there.”
